2Badgers has worked extensively in engaging more than 100 Indigenous communities along pipeline routes regarding Trans Mountain’s Geographical Response Planning and Emergency Management Program. Through Trans Mountain, 2Badgers has collaborated with Aboriginal communities and federal and provincial governments to create a culture of safety while being attuned to sensitive environmental concerns. This invaluable service has helped Indigenous communities create an emergency response for all types of safety hazards, including natural disasters.

As a former member of the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team/SWAT team with 23 years experience in policing, 2Badgers’ founder Dion Arnouse has worked as an RCMP Aboriginal Liaison at various Indigenous communities across BC as well as at the provincial headquarters in Vancouver. He has helped provide Indigenous community safety initiatives, emergency response preparedness, and has been involved with the National Restorative Justice Program. He is the recipient of a Long Service Good Conduct Medal.

As part of the Integrated Security Unit for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC, 2Badgers founder Dion Arnouse served as an Aboriginal Relations Officer and Physical Security Planner. His responsibilities included developing proactive community relation strategies with Indigenous communities and groups impacted by the 2010 Olympics.

With a mandate to provide meaningful consultation between industry and Indigenous communities, 2Badgers is a valuable partner of High Velocity’s Heavy Equipment Training Operator Program. Providing advantageous mobile training in Indigenous communities around Western Canada, High Velocity has benefitted from 2Badgers services, including Indigenous engagement, development of Indigenous employment training programs, funding initiatives, and Indigenous government relations.

One of the largest producers of nickel from lateritic sources, Sherritt International originally engaged 2Badgers Consulting services to provide Indigenous engagement strategies after its Obed mine spill in Hinton, AB. In recognition of the open, thorough and proactive manner in which the team engaged stakeholders, Sherritt was awarded a Silver Award of Excellence in the category of Canadian Issues/Crisis Management Campaign of the Year (2014) from the Canadian Public Relations Society. 2Badgers has continued to work with Sherritt on Aboriginal relations and engagement at its Coal Valley Mine.

As a representative of Trans Mountain Expansion Project, 2Badgers worked with the Simpcw First Nation near Barrière, BC, on its Emergency Operation Center Initiative. This included the construction of a new fire hall and emergency response centre served by the Chu Chua Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders, who now have the training and equipment to tackle a wide range of situations including oil spills, earthquakes, floods, and fire.

Working with TransCanada, North America's leading energy infrastructure company, 2Badgers served as senior negotiator and lead researcher on the Aboriginal Oil Spill Response Initiative. 2Badgers assisted TransCanada to negotiate Mutual Benefits Agreements; in leading Chief, Council, and community presentations; and helped put in place Aboriginal contract, procurement, training, and education initiatives.

2Badgers served as the Indigenous engagement advisor for the Petronas proposed natural gas liquefaction and export facility located on Lelu Island in the District of Port Edward, near Prince Rupert, BC. This included consultation and engagement with the Metlakatla, Kitselas, Kitsumkalum, Gitxaala, Lax Kw’alaams and other Indigenous communities that would have been affected by the proposed plant.

2Badgers has provided Indigenous engagement advisory and pipeline safety services on behalf of Shawcor, an integrated energy services company that provides pipeline protection products and solutions. 2Badgers worked with Indigenous communities to protect their natural assets on traditional territories as well as engage them in employment opportunities as well as resource-based management.
